The question of printing/not is rather secondary to me at the moment:

It would not be low quality, no matter what. The new volume 1 books I still have for sale are very nice…and moderately expensive to print. ;)

Man I’m so sorry it explodes!! I still feel awful about that, if I had caught that before sending them out…ugh. The new ones are so much better. I have not publicly badmouthed the company that kept sending me defects because they had great customer service but FUCK THEM. If I print volume two/three they will not explode, promise. :)

Haha yeah fuck Paypal. Fuck taxes, too. If I do a Kickstarter I’d have to offer a ton of extra stuff for price tiers which is kind of a stupid amount of work when I have the money to print, I just don’t know if I’d make it back. What I could do is a use it as a gauge of interest and if it doesn’t get funded no one is charged and I don’t have to refund a ton of pre-orders. Definitely a possibility.

If I do it, I will do it to cover both book two and three and print them at the same time (months from now).

What about a kickstarter? If there’s enough interest (yes) then people will kick in and if there are enough of them (there will be) then you’ll be able to go to print. If there isn’t, then you won’t be overcharging anyone. Also, they don’t go through paypal, because fuck them.

‘lo. just weighing in with my opinion after buying a copy from the defective batch.
TR is the pretty much the only webcomic I want in print and I love my copy, even with its tendency to explode. That being said, I would much prefer you in to be in the black on this. If the most economic route would be an e-book, particularly if it’s the least stressful, I would prefer that. A healthy and financially secure Alice is the most important thing. I would prefer a print copy, yes, but in a pinch I’ll print it out and bind it myself.

I bought the first volume and would prefer to have the rest in physical form as well, but if you feel like it’s more trouble than it’s worth (both financially and in terms of just, you know, being a hassle), I wouldn’t want to feel like you still had to have it printed out of duty or anything… If you decide to not do a print version, I’ll probably still get whatever format is available. Your work is awesome and you deserve to make some moneyz off it.

I wouldn’t claim to be very knowledgable about these things, but I would certainly prefer an e-book to a low-quality print. That being said, whatever decision is best for you is the best for your fans, as far as I’m concerned!

I’d love to have a hard copy, because I love my volume one with a sketch and I reread it regularly. But I will buy the e-book, and whatever other form you choose to publish 2R in. This is still one of my all time favorite comics and the first webcomic I have ever bought.

Your work is superb and I think it only fair that you make a profit on it, and are not subjected to a nervous strain because of the publishing process. I thought paypal charges the buyer, but apparently I assumed wrong. Aren’t there other payment options to consider? I haven’t had much experience with it, and it was in relation to Europe and Japan, but maybe something like Western Union?
